Patti Colen is a Canadian fibre artist who uses traditional fibre techniques with a contemporary twist to tell stories about the world around her. Her love of documentary photography and observation of the human condition influence her work, often focusing on relationships, society’s treatment of marginalized populations and the current state of the world.

Patti’s work has been published in The Art of Motherhood: Our Lives in Colour and Shadow (Ed. Karen D Miller 2022) and Rug Hooking Magazine’s Celebration 30. She has contributed articles to fibre art related periodicals and has presented to various groups and professional organizations. Her work has appeared in juried shows including I Choose Therefore I AM ( Houston TX 2023), Impact 2025 (Etobicoke, ON), All About Women (Marin Society of Artists 2025) and a solo show “Hooking the World Around Me” (Ailsa Craig Art Centre, 2024). Most recently Patti has been a featured artist on @handhooked_current_.

A fibre enthusiast since childhood, embracing all forms of handwork, Patti has focused her creative energy into storytelling through contemporary rug hooking since her retirement from healthcare. She lives in London ON with her husband, three pups and a kitty who rules them all.
